Tulip, genus of about 135 species of bulbous herbs in the lily family, many of which are cultivated in temperate regions for their showy blooms. Native to Central Asia and Turkey, tulips are among the most popular of all garden flowers, and numerous cultivars and varieties have been developed.The species was introduced to China through cultivation.Tulip varieties are renowned for their rich and vibrant colours, which have earned them the epithet of ‘the world’s flower queen’. The genus of plants with large and beautiful flowers includes numerous species that are not only suitable for use in gardens as ornamental plants but also for flower borders and tulip specialty gardens. Additionally, these plants can be used as cut flowers, potted plants and ground cover.

 

Tulips thrive in cool, moist, sunny, wind-sheltered environments, exhibiting the ability to adapt to a wide range of climatic conditions, including both wet and cold winters and hot and dry summers. They can generally tolerate temperatures as low as -14 ℃, with an optimal growth temperature range of 8-20 ℃. Tulips are known to flourish in soil that is rich in slightly acidic or neutral, humus, loose and fertile, and well-drained. This soil is typically found in sandy areas.Flowering period spans from April to May.
